Sunday 1st November 2020 Riverside

Sunday saw us head out to Riverside for the final event in the JIL calendar on the 2020 season, the ever popular modified scramble team event. The day was merged with the Tee Set regular Sunday, followed by an excellent BBQ and the prize-giving awards.

Overall we had 59 players which was a little down on expect numbers after a few late call offs and some no-shows on the day but those who came were blessed with a course in fine condition and a very relaxed evening in club house afterwards. The rain largely stayed away with only a couple of holes affected by a light shower and the journey home was quick and smooth so fears on both counts were unfounded despite it being the rainy season and the end of a long week-end.

For the daily prizes, Long Drives went to Santi Miller and Srinivas Murthy whilst Terrance Martin was our NTP winner.

In the scramble, we had some excellent results and winners on the day were the team of Srinivas, Terrance, Indar and Gaurav whilst Fernado/Kees/Jens/Willi pipped Giancarlo/Cecilia/Siti/Zahren for 2nd on a back 9 count-back, the top 2 teams receiving a bottle of wine for their efforts.

We also handed out the JIL 2020 season prizes with 2018 & 2019 Champions not going home empty handed after collecting the wooden spoon this year whilst Pocksia picked up the 2nd place prize.

2020 Champions Cloggies then stepped forward to receive the trophy.

A big thank to all the Riverside team who again worked closely and tirelessly with us to fit in the matches after the disruptions caused by the social distancing requirements early in the season and to all the Captains and Players who turned out during the year to make the competition an enjoyable one as usual. Lastly a thank you to Jack Calcote for his support to the prize-giving event with smoothies and beers both going down well during the evening.

President Required!: in case we have been too subtle up to now ….

With the existing President reaching his 4th Championship at the head of the Society and not standing for re-election, we are calling for new blood to step-up and take Tee Set forward. If you are willing to take on this prestigious position and wish to put your name in the hat for the election which will be held at the Championships, please contact our election convener, Keith Miller at keith.steuart.miller@gmail.com

Call for sponsors

Thank you to those sponsors Hot Hed, Asian Tigers, LF Logistics, Asia Serv, PT Delta, Mayapada Healthcare, JIB, Loesche and Schenck Process who have confirmed their sponsorship for this year’s event. Not unexpectedly, a few of our regular sponsors have also been challenged by the current situation are not able to renew so we are looking for a couple of new sponsors to ensure we can make the day run as smoothly as ever. Please contact Ric Wymer if you can help out at any level.

Next Up: Jagorawi Sunday 8th November 2020

This week we make our third visit of the year to Jagorawi Golf and Country Club which, in addition to being an excellent day out, will give us the opportunity to get some practice in ahead of our 6th December visit when we are slated to take up the challenge laid down by JAWS in parallel to our weekly game. We will be playing the excellent but tricky golfing challenge of the New Course due to the fact that Old Course (our original booking) is under repair after some recent and serious rain damage on holes 1 and 2.

Tee time is 12.00pm officially but we are expecting to get off a little earlier and possibly with a shot-gun start so we ask all of you to be at the course before 11.00am please. We will play white tees this week for men and if you are interested to join us please sign up here. Price is Rp950k with carts.
