The Monthly Medal is our most popular event outside of our 2 major events during the year: the Tee Set Championship and the Tee Set Birthday Anniversary Scramble. It is played on the last Sunday of each month. The winners receive a medal and have their names immortalized on the Monthly Medal Shield – we are currently on our third shield having filled up the first 2!
The shield is kindly sponsored by Geoff Thwaites’ Kojo.
Latest Tee Set Monthly Medal Winner
Keeping it in the family, September winner Mark Johnson was on hand to present the medal and shield to October’s winner Juju Juhairiah, who won our October Monthly Medal with a score of 43 points, 2 points clear of a pack of 4 runners-ups who all finished with 41 points.
2020 Monthly Honours Board
Our most recent winners are listed above and the full list of the previous winners since we commenced the Monthly Medal event can be found here: Monthly Medal Honours Board
The following apply to each of our Monthly Medal events:
- The Stableford scoring system is used based on net score.
- The winner is the player with the most Stableford points (hole by hole count back if scores are tied), and will have his name engraved on the prestigious Monthly Medal Honours Board and receive a medal and a sponsored prize when we have a sponsor.
- A Tee Set Handicap is required to qualify for the Monthly Medal honours and prizes, but everyone is welcome to join and eligible for the Longest Drive Men and Women and Closest to the Pin prizes offered on those special days, on top of the ones awarded every Sunday like Low Nets per grade, Low Gross, Low Putts, 1st Sandy, 1st Birdie, 1st Par HC ≥ 30, Most Improved, Skirts and the other “booby prizes”.
Should you be unfamiliar with Stableford scoring – or need a refresher, then have a look here, or if need be on the day of the competition maybe ask your playing partners to help you calculate your score.
We have prepared a special score sheet for our Monthly Medal that enables us to pick up the information we need rather more quickly than off the club’s own scorecard. Copies will be given out to all players and these should be returned to the Tee Set secretary immediately after your round – and NOT after you have had a shower please!!
Finally, we know, and as a few of you have rightly pointed out, that Medal is normally a net stroke play event rather than Stableford, however, we like to be ground breakers here at Tee Set – so get used to it 🙂
